This year, Steamcon will be holding two differently themed teas with appropriate fashion shows. One tea will be a classic high tea with the fashion show focused on elegant evening wear and formal frocks. The other tea party will be more akin to the convention’s theme of The Weird, Weird West. This tea will be a leisurely and informal style. The accompanying fashion show will feature the rough and tumble edge of steampunk with a focus on men’s wear and utilitarian looks.
Steamcon’s Fashion Shows are an opportunity to show your designs in one of Steamcon’s most highly anticipated events before an eager and devoted crowd. Last year’s fashion show was highly successful at showcasing the best of local steampunk fashion. This year we hope to continue showcasing local talent from last year’s show and add to it with talented designers from all over. Our goal is to make the Steamcon Fashion Show an icon of steampunk fashion to match Steamcon’s stellar reputation.
Please join us and become a part of Steampunk Fashion. It is our goal to showcase a variety steamy styles and designers from across the country and around the world. It would be an honor and pleasure to include your work in this year’s show.
How To Enter
Applications to the Steamcon Fashion Show will be accepted starting May 17th, 2010. Applications will be juried on the basis of steampunk relevance and a designer's experience. Non-relevant designs will be declined. If you would like to be a participating designer, please complete the Steamcon Fashion Show Application Form and include with it at least three clear images of steampunk relevant designs. These images can be either photographs of previous work or renderings of future work. A professional design resume may be helpful and is a welcome addition to your application. Participating designers will be notified of their acceptance after their work has been reviewed. Applications will be taken until all available slots are filled.
Model applications will also be accepted starting May 17th 2010 until all our model needs are met. Please be aware we are unable to pay models, however a discounted convention membership is available. We will be accepting models based on our designers’ needs, your experience and the references you provide.
